Vlad is a Partner at Intuitive Economics. He has over 10 years of experience in competition and applied economics, spanning regulatory enforcement, consulting, and academic research.
Enforcement & Regulatory Foundation
Vlad served at the Romanian Competition Council as a Competition Inspector in the Chief Economist Unit, where he was tasked with quantitative analysis applied in the authority’s most complex merger and antitrust cases and provided expert support in competition litigation. This hands-on enforcement experience grounds his consulting work in a practical understanding of how competition authorities assess evidence and build cases.
Strategic Advisory & Sector Expertise
As a consultant, Vlad has advised clients in high-stakes mergers, antitrust proceedings, and litigation across energy, transportation, industrial real estate, retail, food industry, media, telecom, automotive, and pharmaceuticals. He has been a principal contributor to many of the firm’s landmark cases, including complex merger assessments and competition investigations in sectors central to the Romanian economy.
International Policy & Research
Previously, he has served as an expert on behalf of the European Commission in TAIEX and Twinning programmes supporting EU accession states in building competition enforcement capacity. He was also involved, as a senior researcher, in international projects for the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, and Bloomberg Philanthropies, spanning economic development, just transition, and health economics.
Academic Background & Credentials
Vlad holds a PhD in economics from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, where he also taught, as an associated professor, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and European economics.
